Hi,
I recently purchased this vanity for $40. I am planning on refinishing it, but would like to find out more information. I have been looking online and was thinking 1920s-30s (???) The screws are all flat head screws, 6 wooden casters, and the backs of the two mirrors still attached have "CENTRAL No. 2-12-22" stamped on the backs. Tried researching to find out if that was a date, item code, etc. with no luck. Not sure if Central is the name of a glass company, and not sure if the mirrors are even original to the piece.

I have to be honest, I am in the business of refinishing unwanted items (like things I find on the side of the road or friends & families' attics) with a shabby chic look. I have always loved old rustic things, but am fairly new to actual antiques and what to look for. I am very hestitant to throw some paint on this vanity and would like to find out more info so that I may restore it to a more original look. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! :)

Yes, 1922 looks right. Nice find!
I would refinish the beautiful walnut WITHOUT painting it! Simply refinish the wood and put it up for sale. Why not post some "after" pictures as well?

I also agree with the time period !! You were well advised by Mr. Taylor !! Only thing I disagree on is the date being on the mirrors,,I have found many with no date that were original !! But that's an insignificant point !!

I have found more old mirrors without the date than with the date.
I do agree on the time period as well.
It just depends on what you want and what sells for you!
As a purist we push for keeping it in original shape.
But as a person who realizes that most people these days want color...chalk paint is the reigning craze these days with waxing, etc.

We have the before pics,, now we want to see the after pics !!

Thanks everyone! It will be a while before I post some "After" pics. I only picked it up yesterday and have to fix the frame on the middle mirror, put a drawer together, and have 2 new mirrors cut for it. Then try to decide how to refinish it. But I will keep yall updated! :)
