Title: Need help identifying religious paintings
Post by: mspencer on February 24, 2014, 08:49:01 PM
I found these in an abandoned house and was given permission to have them as my own. There are two more of these, one with a family name (dated 1850-1870ish) I will update with more pictures tomorrow. Curious if anyone is able to determine the age of these and/or value of these .

They look to be prints.  If you look very close you can see tiny dots indicating a print.  Also, feel them, do you feel any brush strokes of paint or are they smooth?  They are very old.  Take them out of the frame carefully and look for makers marks.

You need to remove it from the frame and see what kind of paper it is on !! Smooth, slick, thin paper would be a print,,if the paper has a thicker textured surface,,perhaps a water color !! Canvas would be a painting as well as wood panel !!

Is the publisher info on the bottom or have you looked ??  You can usually find them on ebay at different prices !! Knowing the publisher and the title would help find them !!
