Title: Maxfield PARRISH print original frame hold or sell?
Post by: icedgold10 on March 02, 2014, 10:07:52 AM
I bought this at an Estate sale yesterday for $5 , went to list the frame and the realized it was an original Maxfield PARRISH print.  I saw some of his prints are going for hundreds.  Should I list it or hold for as bit ?  Will it probably gain value?

Looks like a print of a copy of a painting by Victor Kowalski

Had a one minute Google before and another search brought up this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Wierusz-Kowalski

so would have to check on the Victor part.

I just pulled it out of the frame and found no markings.  Vibrant colors though that you couldn't see through the dirty glass.

Kind of hard to pin down the artist on many of the "Lone Wolf type" prints. It became so popular that it was "copied" more than once to supply the need at the time.

Here's the original Kowalski version. (Compare with yours and KC's link.)

Interesting thing is the one KC found says it is stamped with producers name.  Mine has nothing on it?????  Usually the printer labels them.

Yeah, that's why i said print of a copy, as the image you posted is the same on the Wiki page. Looks like someone just painted an inverted version with subtle differences.
