I can't tell if this is a gilt bronze or brass???

Looks very goldie but lacquered brass will give the same effect so try some alcohol on it or thinner to get any off maybe ? If its gilded nothing will happen if you do that .

Looks brass to me !! Scratch a place on the bottom of the foot,, yellow inside is brass,, !!  Likely it is lacqered brass !! Uncoated brass would have darkened with age !!
