I'm having a hard time getting a sense of the shape of this object. With no description or further information I'm wondering if this is a busk (wooden support device that slipped down the front of a corset. Sometimes these were very ornate. That's a pretty wild guess with no further info though.

It is a Persian pen box (qalamdan)
