Title: Rare ceramic vase decorated with crocodile

Hi again. I find this rare ceramic vase decorated with crocodile. And he take somo sign and number in the base. But I dont possible know how is.

At first I thought of Zuni Indians, but that can't be right. Their lizards were black.

Is that a date of 1938 on the bottom?

take "1938" , "D659" and and a hand written signature seemed also
