Title: Antique I'llustration prints Sizeranne
Post by: icedgold10 on March 18, 2014, 06:53:46 PM
I picked these up tonight.  Very old and a couple are prints and all are pasted on to the mat. The Sizeranne ones almost look like real drawings.  Can someone enlighten me more about these?

From a 1930 French magazine. There's a website dedicated to L'Illustration and these are mentioned.

Do they hold any value?  I have an antique wood & glass serving tray that I was thinking of using one under the glass part. The silk that is currently there is very stained and too fragile to wash.

Have you ever tried washing the delicate silks by placing on a stretched thin cloth and running soapy water through it (never wringing or scrubbing - just letting gravity wash it).  Then rinsing the same way.  Using sunlight to lighten up if needed.

It  is so fragile that when I tried to get it off the card in back of the tray it started shredding.  I might try putting it in the sun a little and see if that helps.  It is very pretty fabric.
