I know it's a broad question, but you have any quick tips for antique bottles? I've bought a couple cobalt blue medicine bottles for quarters based on cool looks and a White Horse Whiskey bottle today for $.75. No idea what I'm looking for though. At the moment I'm going based on cool shapes and embossing/wording. Anything that would be a quick indicator of age, quality or collectibility?

Old brands where the companies are not in business anymore are good ones to collect.

There are so many types of bottles. Flasks are very collectible, perfume bottles. There are several good sites to get information. Color can be important, too. Icegold is right also how rare is the bottle and condition. Are your bottles pontiled? Post some pictures and let me see. I have a lot of bottles and books.
