Costume jewelry is making a big come back I heard. I wanted to try something different so I made a necklace with a vintage Trifari brooch , Blue Lapis and Yellow potato pearls. Here is a pic. Do you think I am on the right path? I wanted to mix old with the new for a custom piece. Be gentle it's my first time trying this. lol
-
Neat idea! If you have a really good piece I don't suggest it. There some brooches that are extremely valuable.
-
I am careful about doing that. I have one I want to make from a Blackamoor pin but I have 2 of the pins so I will try it. The Blackamoor one I have has been becoming scarce. If I have a piece that is really special I wouldn't change it.

Change the pendant to something solid and it would be a winner for me !! The starburst rhinestones don`t go with the heavier solid color beads !!
-
I have several blackmoor pins. Let me see what you have. Curiosity killed the cat! ;D

Mart, I was looking at it and I think it is the color of the beads that is too dark. I have another pendant I can switch to it that will go better.
Greenacres, Here is a pic of the one I just sold. The 2 I just got are similar but smaller and less fancy head dress.

;D I have a matching one with a red stone on top in stead of blue. How much did you get if you don't mind me asking?
-
I sold it for $80 which is not bad considering I paid 50 cents at a flea market. If you have patients you can get more for them.
-
Thank you I got mine many years ago in a lot. This was pre jewerly craze. I don't I paid more than $8. For the lot. I had been doing a lot of research in those days and watch for lots that people weren't aware of what was in it.

Looks like you are having some fun times! Good time for jewelry sales. My neighbor's "altered jewelry" business is booming.
-
Finding it a great stress reliever. Just made this one and didn't even string my thumb through this time. lol
-
its very pretty icedgold

Really nice one. Real amber?
-
Actually it is carnelian and honey stone. Love amber though.

Your "honey stone" looks mighty different from what I was raised with being called honey stone (calcite). Sure is pretty tho'!
