Title: exquisite cup/sugar? set
Post by: sugarcube5419 on April 21, 2014, 05:42:00 PM
I wish I took better pictures because this didn't turn out in the pic as pretty as it is.  plus the marking is impossible to make out--

anybody out there that can help?

Beautiful pieces!

good morning kc

each piece is marked but the marks are so crappy they are not worth photo(ing) for the board, but I have spent hours searching for first angel cups and then adding colors-how would you research this?

I have searched cherubs, flying cherubs, blue, gold, etc....  No luck either!

Still searching.  love a challenge!

very kind of you KC--like I said my pics don't show how beautiful it really is.  I've never noticed how many things have angels on them--even with the colors--

whenever this happens I feel like its a fake and then I wonder why anybody with so much talent bothers with forgery.

There's nothing "fake" about this.  Because if it was a fake they would at least have some of the "mark" showing to identify it.

The mark was a stamp and simply blurred over time or blurred during the firing process.  This happens.  Many companies over the years sold these as seconds.

Lovely pieces.  Just wish we could make out who made it.

thanks kc-

all nice things you said

it is so unique I thought I could find it right off

if it seconds I can't imagine what the best is

could there be a whole set of dishes do you think?

Most likely they made more pieces.  But until you can identify maker...it is like finding a needle in a haystack as big as the USA!  However, miracles happen!  Just makes the search even more adventurous.

good morning kc

this morning I looked again with fresh eyes--tho I can't make the maker still I can tell you each cup has a number 19 in a circle that is very clear

I have been concentrating on the stamp--this is off to the side of the stamp-was shocked I didn't see it before

what do you think this means

Wow...great sleuthing.

If you search "t. Limoge" you see the "style" repeated in their works.
