I know my coins and currency but do not have a depth of knowledge in antiques. I am researching this piece and need the help of experts. This is a very nice finely detailed hand painted tile signed by the artist (I assume signed by artist.) Would like to know if this is an important collectible. Any information at all is appreciated.

Hi, I am guessing more than that I am sure about the reading of the handwriting, but I think it could read like this: "gemalt & gewidmet seinem l. Sohn Adolf Zundel von seinem Papa München d. 31. Dezb. 1879" wich means: " painted & dedicated to his beloved son Adolf Zundel by his dad. Munich, 31.12.1879". So it is not a painters signature. About Adolf Zundel I do not know anything. However, it seems to be really nicely painted. Is it on porcelain?

You probably already know it is from Munich Germany and the artist id Adolf Zundel. I am sure there are other works by him. As you said it is well done. The difficult part is that there is a Zundel tied to Adolf Hitler and Munchen which makes the Google Search more difficult. I am going to try putting the name in quotes. Tiles are very collectible. I used to collect them myself many years ago and would have loved to have found that one.
