Title: Vintage Framed Italian Miniature Painting?
Post by: KevinM on June 21, 2014, 06:52:55 AM
I purchased this miniature painting from the TS yesterday and I'm trying to figure out a few things about it. The painting is signed but I haven't been able to find a name like it (what I think the name is) with online searches.

The painting measures about 4" wide by 3 1/2" high. It looks to be in Italy I think, well maybe. I also think it is initialed on the lower front right "TF". The back looks like it might be signed "Frauco Triugoli".

Does anyone know if the painting is of a location in Italy or somewhere else? When the painting was possibly made and what the name is on the painting?

Thanks!
Kevin

Hi, the Church is San Marco in Venice, so Italy is right. I think the name on the back is Franco Tringoli,. Looks like some souvenir painting, maybe sold on the square before the church... Mat

Thanks Mat! You are correct about the Church and I think that is the correct artist name too! I would agree that it is probably a tourist piece. Most likely mid-century, perhaps a little earlier...
