I have a Mirror Map a friend gave us when he moved out of the city. I'm wondering if anyone knows the origins. Maybe even the original paper copy it came from.
It says this at the top:
nova totius terrarum orbis geographica ac hydrographi emendata

We're thinking of re-framing it and hanging it up but it would be nice to know where its from or if its worth anything. Friend doesn't got it form someone else so he doesn't know either. Thanks!

Hi, the original world map was made made by Petrus Verbist in Antwerp in 1636. This can be read under the INCOG of "incognita" in your second photo. The framed text lists people who have travelled all around the world with the year they did it, beginning with Magellan in 1519 and ending with Jacques L’Hermite in 1625. I have no idea who made your mirror, but it should be rather new. However, it is a nice decorative piece.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll re-frame it and hang it up. It's nice to understand some of the history behind the original.
