What i thought was a cane had an engraving of imperial driver and the name alex taylor & co . It's made in india from seasoned timber. Covered in a velvet like material and has a name of mary dugan at the end writen. I suppose she was the original owner perhaps. All i know is in 1947 the new yorker did an article on alex taylor & co marking 50 years in the sporting goods industry. Any help would be great .

So you mean 19th century if made in the 1800`s ?? If they had a 50th anniversary in 1947,, it would have to have been made shortly before 1900 !! After 1900 would have been made in 20th century !! Just need to know for sure when you think it was made !!

That looks about right to me KC thanks for that info. What did confuse me and why i thought it was possibly a golf club was this website image,

Ha !! Now that I can see the pics,, I would have thought cane too !! Not like the hockey sticks I know !!

I agree Jerryk. I looked at the article/picture you posted and it does resemble that as well.
I do believe the end appears thicker on the golf club or it would split/break upon impact.
