Title: National Ballot Box-Help!!!
Post by: dussartjess on July 24, 2014, 05:45:52 PM
My husband's grandfather was the County Clerk in the small town that they are from in Southern Colorado.  I have scoured the internet but can't find any that look like what I have to try and establish a value for the purpose of getting a rider on our home owners insurance.  I'm hesitant to take them to just any antique shop in the area unless y'all know a good one in the Denver area.  Thank you all for your help in advance!

Nice!
There were a number of different versions of the "glass ballot box" used in Colorado, since they were required by state law for a long time.
I remember finding them back in the 1970's for $100 or less. Today, I would imagine most are priced in the $400 to $600 range.

Here is one on ebay !! It is not in as good condition as yours but you can watch this one and see if it sells and at what price !! That would give you an idea of what people are actually paying for one !!  Its also in Colorado !!

Rauville hit it right on with the value in my neck of the woods as well.  One in real good shape, with the history/provenance established/documented with it (pictures, information) I have seen go up to $800 in great shape!

Nice family piece.  Do you have any pictures of him with it back in the day?
