My estate sale find for the day on my lunch brake from work. The figure in the middle has made in Germany Western Zone on the base. The other two say Made Czechoslovakia in a circle. The funny part is reading from right to left they say Made aikavolsohcezC or if you Start at Czechoslovakia and read left made is backwards. Anyway the Germany western zone makes one at least mid to late 1940s. They are wooden pieces jointed together with elastic string. They are about 5 inches tall and the bases are about 2 1/4'' in diameter. What would you call these? Figures? puppets? is there a special name for these guys? I can't imagine many remain intact over the year if played with.

Can you pose them in different positions or is that the way they stay ?? Almost look like wooden spool dolls !! In fact that is what I would call them even though they may not be made of empty thread spools !! The construction is similar !!

Thanks mart! And you can move these guys around into different positions. I love baseball and figured I cant go wrong at 3 for $10 :D
