Never dealt with antiques until now and have a wealth to identify.  Want to restore, but would like identified and dated.

Hi there !!  Your steamer trunk is pretty much like many others you can find except the condition looks better !! These were used throughout the 19th century and well into the 20th century !! Finding out who made it without a label on it is pretty much impossible !! There were many mfrs !! Does yours have the tray inside ??

i should have thought of that.  nothing but the slats that it would rest on.  devalues a lot?

Well,, would be better to have it but then,,don`t think anyone would travel with it nowdays !! The inside looks good !!  Most people that buy these trunks are using them for coffee tables, end tables ect !! Not much collector value because they are so common !! The prices can run anywhere between $25. and about $125. !! I would say that you might get around $75. since its pretty good condition !! That is of course depending on where you are located !!
