Title: Reed & Barton Silver or Pewter?
Post by: Jenc1965 on May 29, 2005, 03:02:09 PM
I have a Reed & Barton set and am not sure of its worth.  I believe it is silver.  It is a tea pot, or coffee pot, sugar bowl with handles and a creamer pitcher.  The pot is 8" high.  On the bottom of the pot it reads 1760 Reed & Barton and also has the #6 below that.  Anyone know anything??

Thanks!

Your set is excellent quality silverplate from a premiere silversmith.  Honestly, I don't know the "value".  It's a hard item to sell right now - a new generation doesn't want to take the time to polish and care for these wonderful 1940 - 1960 items.  And do you have the matching tray?  If so, I would insure replacement value at $85 - $125.

Bottom line?  Hang onto it.  A new generation may well come to treasure these gorgeous plated items.  KB
