Title: Can someone help with some information on this Chinese statue?
Post by: icedgold10 on August 31, 2014, 07:37:11 PM
Not sure if it is Chinese Republic period or not. No markings on it.  One thing I find interesting is the hole on the bottom looks hand cut.  Any information would be helpful. He is 10" tall.  Thank you.

That "hole" confirms that it is a "modern" slip mold casting .... or "slip casting".

Good link!  I knew it wasn't 19th century but couldn't put my finger on it completely.  Thank you!
