Title: Vases.
Post by: Alex from GA on September 14, 2014, 07:12:51 PM
My mother gave me a pair of vases many years ago and I'd like to find out more about them.  I remember them being around since I was a little kid and I'm over 70 now.  Thank you.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=pottery+vase+marked+LONGWY&spell=1

You should find all the information needed here on this page !!  Your vases are from France, and are a majolica glazed pottery type !!  Very collectable and nice value as well !!  The 1607 is probably the pattern number !!  Longwy is the region in France where the pottery is made,,not a makers name !! I think there is some history on one of these sites !!

Interesting little peacock/peahen motif there , Alex from GA .

Perhaps using a strong magnifyer & (some patience) looking over the metal base of your items (inside & outside) will give some clues (signatures/small engraving & etc) !
