Hi Guys,
Can anyone properly name and date this. I haven't been able to find any info on it. I was told that the velvet and red piping may link it to some fraternal order. Any help would be great.
-
Don`t know about fraternal order !! Looks and is made like a ladies waistcoat !! Needs the skirt !!
-
Thanks mart! Yeah that sounded a little far fetched. Any idea on the value? The only ones I have been able to find are the really high end silk hand embroidered for $800 or reproductions for $40.
-
I would surmise that there isn't any labeling of sorts inside?
I agree it appears to be a woman's jacket.
-
There is no labeling on the jacket.
-
Can you please show a clear picture of the stitching inside.
Is the "off white" piece attached to the jacket?
-
I bet Talesofthesevenseas would know the approx. value !! She knows clothing of the Victorian era !! Of course much depends on condition !! Is the stitching good, is it faded, ect !!
-
The stitching, piping and velvet all seem to be in great shape. The only issues I found were a chipped button and the discoloration of the sewn in neck tie. I'm sure the blue of the jacket and the red of the piping were a lot brighter at one point in time.

Sounds good !! No one expects it to be like new and some color loss is to be expected after so many years !!
