Very nice!  Get a magnifying glass and look for any markings on it.

Well, I've looked every inch of it and could not find any marking..

But I have carefully flipped the picture around and found this :

googled it. most likely says:''Andenken an die muttertagsfeier - mai 1955'' (thanks Mat)

The german part of the sentence says : ''Keepsake of the mother day celebration, may 1955''

then there is a signature under it which I can read at all ..

That may explain the multi language part.  I live in Maine, USA by Old Orchard Beach that is a popular vacation spot for people from Quebec.  A Lot of very old religious pieces floating around these areas.

Oh, well actually all the items I am describing come from a metal box my dad bought in a yard sale when he was visiting France a while ago!

Hi, the date " Mai 1955. " is written like that in German too, so there is no reason to assume a French connection for the piece. the "denken" is most likely the remaining part of "Andenken", which means "souvenir" or "keepsake".

Beat me to it Mat!  :)

German it is

Do believe it is a souvenir from muttertagsfeier which translates to Mother's Day Celebration...which is in May!  :)
