Title: Bamboo folding chair

Another find and would like to know age and where made ? Little bit off woodworm at the legs . But the iron bits looks handmade and a bitty old . So any knowledge around ?   thanks

Pretty typical mid century beach, deck, pool chairs !!  Some cruise lines also used them !! Folds for easy storage !! The metal foot is not hand made I don`t think but they got scooted around quite a bit so a lot of wear is normal !!

These are referred to as a sling chaise, a steamer chair, folding steamer chair, etc.

However, this one looks more like it would be used at a pool or home application - not as "sturdy" appearing as one would need on a ship.

These were imported in quantity to the US in the mid 1900's.

Some the back lays down into a sleeping position,, they are quite comfy !!

Think so to but with my weight I think the bottom will be there soon for me then  ;D Woodworm in the legs will do the trick  :'(

They turn up around here at the Jersey shore from time to time and sell really well. People like them for porch decor. Most are just wood and not bamboo. The bamboo makes it nicer to me.

I remember both types from the 60`s !! Rattan and bamboo were quite popular !!
