I don't know much about this piece other than the marble top can be removed. It sits in an 1850s home filled with other Victorian like furniture.
I have attached 3 pictures.
Thanks in advance.

Can you please take a picture of the underside of the table AND if the marble lifts off...a picture of the table without the marble? Also look to see any markings on the underside of the marble.
-
I am unable to take pictures at this time, but I will post soon. Thank you
-
Pretty sure the marble is not original to the table !! Like KC said,,need to see with the marble removed and underside !!
-
I thought, as well, that the marble was not original to the table. Makes you wonder what was there... Hmmm, can't wait to get additional pictures to find out. Thanks all!

That is an interesting looking rug. ??? ???
-
The rug is interesting too. LOL. Its been there for YEARS. I have no idea what it is either. Like I said in another post, this man has a ton of old stuff. The house belonged to his mother who passed away in 2002 at a 100 years old! Thanks again for the input! Very helpful

Persian,,possibly ???

Quite a few rugs are lying around that house. I promise to take better pics this time around. Thanks for all the suggestions. ;)
-
I will have pictures of the marble table tomorrow. I will also take some pictures of the rug as well. Maybe I could run the vacuum over it first??? LOL
-
A vacuum over it would help to see true colors !! Just tell him you need to fluff it up a bit !! ;)
-
LOL. Thanks! Should I look underneath to see if there is a tag of some sort? I'm not sure if rugs of this era even had tags or markings! I know it sits on some sort of rug pad and hasn't been moved in YEARS!!
-
Sorry it took me a few days to post this. I added pictures. The marble is not original to the table!
Thanks for all your help!
-
I tried to take some better pictures of the rug but this is the only one that really came out well. I could see no markings or indications of who made this or where it came from. Any help is appreciated!

Nice piece of marble take care easily broken. May have been off a wash stand as for the table could have had some sort of wicker top like a Lloyd Loom piece with glass on top they tend to fall apart hence the marble as a replacement just a thought those metal bits possibly for castors definitly not right but I reckon you know that
-
So you think the table had a wicker top? Wish I could figure out exactly what kind of table this is.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it
-
What do you mean" what kind of table it is" ??
-
I worded that incorrectly....what I wanted to say was... I wish I knew what was originally on the top of the table so I could find one similar to this one.
Sorry
-
Oh !! The owner didn`t know ?? I know you said it was his mothers !!
-
Unfortunately, no, he doesn't know. His father passed away and his mother remarried in the 60's and his step-father brought the table, couch, chair and settee, along with other items, from his home. His step-father's items could have belonged to HIS mother, I don't know and I don't think he knows either. It's a mystery. LOL

I believe the table originally had another top on it that got ruined somehow. It was removed. The base of the piece was salvaged and a marble top was added. Note all the screws/nails in the corner. Don't believe this was ever showing (would hope not) and don't see areas for glass insets or wicker/caning.
