not sure what to call this but very heavy and today I noticed the numbers on it but were they from the store do you think?
-
full pic
-
Can you please post a few more pictures of
1) the full item with readily recognizable item next to it so we can determine size (like a dollar bill)
2) A picture taken apart
Are there any other markings on it anywhere? Inside? On the bottom?
It appears to be identifiers either for a store or owner in case of theft.

morning KC--
here's a pic with a measuring tape...it's such a heavy piece I wondered what is made out of--glass and ?
no other markings, sadly today I see some of the glass is broken inside..
-
What does it look like inside?? How is it made ??
-
bottom where candle goes
just screws in place with screws on the side

Hi SugarCube,
You know what it make me think of a perpetual or eternal light candle from a church or cemetery. They usually have a glass interior.
Here are a few pictures of something similar.

hello pelady
you could be onto something-its such a heavy thing certainly wouldn't have been moved around much or handled much either-
-
Not sure why but none of your pictures are showing up with the "entire piece" showing. Is there a ring at the top? Try standing out/away from the piece if you take another one.
I would also look at the design on the outer holder. Marrakech style...

here are the pictures

that was the top
this is top looking down

Definitely Moroccan style lantern. If you google this you will see many in this style. The Moroccan style has been rampant on home interior stencils for walls, tiles, flooring, rugs, etc.
There have been many lanterns made in this style for gardens as well.
I thought this was a standing item...but am I correct it is a hanging lantern?
-
many thanks kc
yes-hanging only top and bottom are the same
now to investigate what you told me....
-
Something about this reminds me of items sold at Pier I, Kirklands, Home Decor, etc.
They even sold "heavy" ones, especially since made of heavy metal.
This would sell sell!

This is a tough one because Roman Catholic design and Moroccan design both incorporate that qua trefoil motif. I lean towards Moroccan or made to look that way.
-
Believe me...I have been searching all kinds of Vestment and Eucharistic applications for this to no avail.
I am still leaning for decorative Moroccan.
-
born and bred Catholic-doesn't resemble much I ever saw in church or school-but maybe different sectors of Catholics
KC- a few glass pieces have a streak of broken glass thru them-what do you think a fair market value on it?
I can't tell if the glass or the metal add weight?
