Hi all. Hoping you can help me out with finding out some details for a item I purchased this week. This is a dinner sized gong. I think it may be brass as I can see a gold clour coming through in places. Apart from that I am clueless as to the style and age of tthe piece. If anyone can give me any information or opinions I would be most grateful. Many thanks. Ruthycc

Any writing, signature, foundry mark any where? Do you have the mallet that came with it? Do the strings holding the gong look modern / replaced? It is very hard to see the gong close up. If you take any more pictures I would suggest a white sheet or towel placed under and behind the object.

Hi. Apologies for delay. I have tried posting a reply with new pictures a number of times over the past couple of delays but receive a file error each time so for now I shall respond with no extra photos.
Thank you Pelady for responding. I can not find any identifying marks, there is no mallet with it and the strings appear replaced. I know from my description that does not give much to go on, but it would be fantastic if anyone could tell me the style this is in so I can do some more more research myself. Any pointers or information is very much appreciated.

Would anyone recommend that I clean this up to its original brass shade before selling it or leave it as it is?
And if anyone has any insight into the era this may belong too I would love
to hear your opinion too.
Thanks

If it were me,, I would clean it !! Relatively modern brass is like silver, meant to be cleaned polished and used !! But remember that's just me !! Others may have a different opinion
