Title: Vintage Musical Wooden Cabin Lamp
Post by: valhom on February 09, 2015, 09:31:37 PM
Measures approx. 12" tall & 6 1/2" long. The wind-up music inside plays the song "Anniversary Song". It's the same song I was trying to identify on here a few days back. The inside light/wiring has been repaired. I just can't find anything like it on eBay. Anyone able to shed some light on this piece? Thank you. :)

A little info from Wikipedia:
The song Waves of the Danube originally came from Romania, a waltz composed by Ion Ivanovici in 1880, and is one of the most famous Romanian tunes in the world.

In the United States, it is frequently referred to as "The Anniversary Song",[2] a title given by Al Jolson when he and Saul Chaplin released an adaptation of the song in 1946.[1]

1950's lampshade style.  1950's style in overall piece.

I am thinking this is a homemade, home-adapted item.

Sure is close quarters to have that bulb inside the small wooden cabin - heat would build up if it was from the 50's.

Awhitetriangle, I believe this was originally a music box but am pondering that it was made into a lamp.

I know that there are businesses that thrive here where I live that convert just about anything into a lamp.  They have been around for as long as I remember.

The box style is similar to some that I have seen from 30's to 50's.  The lampshade is 1950's style.

Not sure but seems like I remember things like this being made in Canada !!  Guessing what it would bring on ebay is a crap shoot !! Depends on who is shopping at any given time !!  My guess if all is perfect,, right shoppers are looking ect,, I would guess between $60. and $80. !! That shade is important to the sale,, it needs to be in excellent condition !! And lamp needs to work well with good wiring !!
