Not too good,, is it ??
-
Well...she met her reserve - so she must be happy.
I do believe it would garner much much more with a auction house.
-
Right KC !! A lot more !! Even on the conservative side I think it would have brought $10K+ !! No advertising,, no anything,, just stuck it on ebay !! I don`t get that !!
-
It might still make that amount, Mart. Lets hope so. $2000 with a couple of days left is pretty good as i suspect there are some very keen collectors who've not bid yet but are waiting until the last day.
My reserve would have been £3,000.

You know these things better that I do Ipcress !! I thought historical value alone as well as being the only one ever awarded in gold,, then lost to history would have jacked the price up !! Makes me wonder how it got into that secret pocket in a piece of furniture !!
-
It would be nice to know the history - the piece of furniture must have significance.
The medal is listed in England in the Elizabeth II gold sovereign category, which won't help.
-
Just keep wishing her well....
-
We certainly wish her well but we are worried that it will not bring as much as it should !! I hate to see any one not do well on an item as historically significant as this !!
I advised her to hold on to that piece of furniture, Ipcress !! Not sure if she did though !!
-
I would not sell an item like that unless my back was really against the wall it can only go up in value for future generations and lets face it it does not take up much room. Other people are different it seems everything is for sale with no real appreciation or interest in history. Just to hold that medal would put shivers down my spine.
-
It really would be a lovely thing to have in a cabinet and get out every now and then !
It's a museum piece - hopefully one buys it but more chance of that had it been consigned to an auction house in the UK or US.
-
The price has trebled. Now $6,000.
-
No kidding ?? Haven`t looked lately !! One thing I noticed earlier was all the bidders were private and that's a good sign !!
-
Mart, the seller sets it so that all bidders are private listings!
