My reserve would have been £3,000.

I thought historical value alone as well as being the only one ever awarded in gold,, then lost to history would have jacked the price up !! Makes me wonder how it got into that secret pocket in a piece of furniture !!

The medal is listed in England in the Elizabeth II gold sovereign category, which won't help.

I advised her to hold on to that piece of furniture, Ipcress !! Not sure if she did though !!

Post by: wilhenri on February 11, 2015, 08:50:57 AM: I would not sell an item like that unless my back was really against the wall it can only go up in value for future generations and lets face it it does not take up much room. Other people are different it seems everything is for sale with no real appreciation or interest in history. Just to hold that medal would put shivers down my spine.

It's a museum piece - hopefully one buys it but more chance of that had it been consigned to an auction house in the UK or US.
