Title: Karges Buffet Identification
Post by: SFG on February 14, 2015, 01:02:22 AM
I need some help. I know this is a Karges Buffet but I am not sure what type it is. I am not able to find it anywhere else and I don't know if it is an actual antique, or what year, value or even if it is authentic. I am going to sell it and I would like to find out a price point. Thank you in advance.

Pretty sure it is a 1960`s buffet,, based roughly on French design !!  You can find similar styles called Country French , or just French Provincial !!  They did make good quality furniture but the style is so out dated that I think about $250. would be top price in most areas !!

Actually, this style is still popular with those that collect French items and want a "french looking piece" without the cost of King Louis price.

Where are you located?  (Location make a price difference).

I have seen the lighter colored (Country French) pieces doing a little better but in my area the fruitwood and other similar stained pieces are hard to give away !!  But you are in a metro area. KC so may do a little better there !!

I just noticed the picture says "Texas" on it....where in Texas?

Welp...searched it and found this is about 30 minutes from me.  Great price if you it it for under $200 (which is current bid and bidding should be closing).

Would have said in "our" area this should sell for $450+.

These are really popular for people that love to patina/chalk paint/age pieces!
