Title: What is this thing?!
Post by: Jason0498 on February 20, 2015, 10:56:50 AM
I was wondering if anybody could tell me what this is. It looks like something designed to slice fruits but I'm not sure. Could somebody please identify it and tell me how old it is?

Cute little item , Jason0498 ...

I'd say it was designed for slicing eggs ('flowering') , not fruit .

Is your item made from aluminum ?

Are the cutters just wire or do they have a cutting edge !!  Similar items are used for potato wedges, apple wedges, lemons ect !!  If just the wires without a cutting edge then would have to be eggs or something soft !!
Restaurants might use something like this if you had to cut a lot of them !!

Thank you for the help it has enabled me to find out what it is. It's an egg wedger from the 1940's or 1950's.

Oops just noticed double post. Apples look to heavy to slice. Eggs sound good too. I thought it was a warmer for a minute candle in the bottom. Too unstable.
