tells a story for sure-but I don't know it do you?
-
semi close up

another

I don't know this one by heart , but the 'bringing in the sheaves' & harvest-time motif should ring some bells , somewhere ....
Is there an artists' sig on this item , sugarcube5419 ?
-
hi fancy-
no signature and it's encased on the back--I'll look that up...looked like an awful time...
-
plus I hate to admit it but I always thought it was bringing in the sheep--I really don't know my art or folk songs fancy
-
That gave me a chuckle , sc ! :D
-
do you think it may be signed under the picture glass?
-
It might be hidden beneath the matting , or even notated on the back of the item (painting/litho/print?) .
-
it's encased but what the heck I'll live crazy and open it
I'll let you know in a second
-
clear as mud fancy-it's a hard piece of "cardboard"-and now I put my camera down and can't take a pic for you-no autograph-
-
found my camera here;'s some new pics
-
another question--the colors are spotty at best-like you know the wheat(?) is yellow but it's just a lighter color-some of the guys shirts are almost pink=it's just not anything I know

Just found one , exact to yours , while using the search terms 'antique euro harvest paintings' at commons.wikimedia.o rg , sugarcube5419 .
Still no clue as to date of the original , or the artist .
The posted image on wiki was much more vivid & bright than yours , so perhaps sun/light fading has happened to your item .
-
fancy-I am looking at mine-when the matt was put on it covered the edges--yes it has suffered lots of sun damage--
and phew it stinks inside..
I never would have thought to put that string of words together. I'll search more thanks

Great harvest scene! Is it a print?
Thinking about the Time period of the original: Most paintings were of the rich or religious themes until the 16th century. The guy exhausted sleeping with his pants open. The pants with the drop front style says 15th or 16th Century.

thank you all esp rauville for finding the name of it, it looks like a really primitive time - again appreciate everyone's time.
-
Good one there , Rauville !

lithographic print on medium-weight, lightly coated stock 1957
mine has huge sun damage and I think lots of smoke.
Still tells such a story-glad I'm not there.

I saw that print back in the 50`s when I was a kid !! I think it was at a shop somewhere !! I thought it was a little spooky !! Looked to me like the guy lying down was dead !! Couldn`t figure out why they just left him there !!
-
Glad to see you mart.
and that made me laugh--yes they all look hot sweaty and unhappy one way or another.
