Title: Buffalo China question
Post by: tmayeaux on April 17, 2015, 07:12:10 PM
Hi,
I recently purchased a plate that is the Buffalo Blue Willow design.  The plate is date stamped on the back 1917, but then on either side of the buffalo there is a number as well.  Can anyone tell me what that number means.  Also, the design on the plate is not straight.  Any comments on that?  I've attached a couple of pictures of the plate.

Thanks!

Hi
These are not rare, and a quick search on Ebay will turn up quite a few. Usually you will also have the pattern number, so tat is what it may be.
Nevertheless, fo a collector of blue and white, this will be a nice addition if it's in good condition

I looked on Ebay and other sites before I posted and didn't find anything that had the numbers on either side of the buffalo, only the numbers on the bottom.

Much of Buffalo pottery was done for the restaurant trade !! May have a slight different mark for those !!  Perhaps that is why the numbers on side !! I doubt anyone noticed the image not being straight when eating dinner !! Was not unusual for some of these to be off kilter !!
