Hi. I need help identifying this beautiful piece of furnature. I don't know anything about it. I found it in a second hand furnature shop. I liked it so I decided to buy it at a price I considered to be a bargain. I'd like to know when it was made. Possibly who made it and what the true value of it is. Hopefully someone can help me learn more about it.
If you have any questions or want more pictures just let me know.

I think I would call that an antique/vintage Oak Sideboard ..... and a really nice one too. ;D ;D

Very nice,,looks like English oak Jacobean Revival sideboard !! Probably turn of the century or shortly before !! Do not think it is older than 1880 !!
Nice buy,, what did you pay for it ??

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know it was oak. I think it is a sideboard because of the height. Dove tail joints etc. All hand crafted to a high level. The draws slide like they're on oil. If you push the draw it slides on its own with the momentum. It really is an impressive thing. I believe it is antique. Pre 1900. I wonder if the handles are original. Also.. the finish is like glass on top. It looks like it was lacquered a million times.
what leads you to your conclusion of the age?
I paid £130 for it. Any idea what it's actually worth?

So you are in the UK ?? Its possible it was revarnished but you still got a good deal at that price !! As to the age ,, just having looked at a lot of it over the years !! We can get a pretty good idea of the timeline !! No real way to say for certain and I have seen a few reproductions that would fool the best of us !! Actually that construction was used by many in the UK after 1900 as well !!
Those pulls are some I have not seen before !! Is it just me or does the face look like one of your past queens ?? Can`t remember which one it resembled !!

Yeah.. I'm in the UK. I think it is revarnished but I can't be sure. The handles aren't original. There are marks in the same place on the wood above all the handles. So there used to be different ones. I've never seen face ones like this either. It was one of the things that caught my eye and made me take a closer look. I like them.
I think I'll keep it and look for other pieces that match.
