Title: R Atkinson fox picture of garden and fountain
Post by: Heardy on May 16, 2015, 06:22:26 PM
I have a signed R Atkinson Fox framed picture of garden with fountain with the copy right logo on bottom left with Morris & Benden, Inc,N.Y.  How do I tell if original or print and is it worth anything  :). There is water damage at top of picture

You need a photo, or I'm not seeing it.

I think if it has a copyright symbol, and it is clearly  there, then you can probably say with some certainty that it is a print.
Also, if you use a strong magnifier you should be able to distinguish between an orifinal painting and a prin.

Mario is right !!  A copyright symbol would not be on an original artwork because it is automatically covered under copyright law from the moment of conception !!
If you check Morris and Benden inc. NY I am pretty sure you will find they are publishers !!
