Title: HELP ID EARLY BASTIAN BROS GOP ELEPHANT
Post by: bcpitch5 on May 20, 2015, 10:19:43 AM: Does anyone know anything about this GOP elephant pendant/medal (missing ribbon?). It was made by Bastian Bros and has several union marks on the back. It appears to be made out of aluminum. Trying to get an idea as to the date/election it is from. Any help would be appreciated!

I believe this could be a key ring fob! They were very renowned for watch fobs but this isn't made like those.

Scroll down here to 1960 Party Master Code and you will find reference to two of the symbols on your elephant JWU and IMEU !! There is a lot of data but its really interesting to read what the GOP and the Democrats were thinking back then about the candidates,,(likes and dislikes,, pros and cons ect. ) !! I have no idea how to figure out the number system they used but what it stands for is in there somewhere !! The page starts with the Democratic party so scroll down for Republican Party !!

Post by: KC on May 22, 2015, 09:42:13 AM: Bastian Brothers Co was a Union company and the logos/trademarks such as "IMEU No3" and "LJWU 9" (means Local Jewelry Workers Union No 9). The other logo that is harder to read looks like a IAM (machinists) Union Logo.

It probably doesn't come up. I looked under AF of L, whom most of those early craft unions were members of.
