Title: Am I close on what this hand held fashion fan is?
Post by: Peaceman on May 22, 2015, 09:34:37 AM
I found a hand held fan the other day mounted in a case and figured, what the heck, I could edumakate myself on these ;)  I've spent a lot of time doing some research and it would appear that finding another vintage fan like it on the internet is virtually impossible.  So far I "think" this is what I have:

- 1970's Fashion/Wedding fan
- Hand painted on silk
- Molded plastic (Found a #4 on a slat)

It appears that it has been signed by L.......L lol.  I assume this isn't the maker rather, the person who painted it.  My guess that it is worth $ 15 - $ 40.  What do you think?

Looks like Leonard to me.

The more unique (feathers, subject matter painted) and material make up (whalebone, jewels, etc.) make the fans more valuable/collectible.

I am sorry i cannot be of help on this item.  Hopefully someone else will chime in.
