Title: Totally lost
Post by: thecatjh on May 27, 2015, 03:45:29 PM
Evening all

I acquired this bowl/planter at weekend, normally I would say its poole or Honiton but cannot find this design anywhere with them 2
also marks on bottom are missing apart from embossed wording so hard to read - bottom I am sure it says England but above it I am not sure
looks like 3 initials in caps like BAP / SAP / DAP or something similar
So I am at a loss I do not know maker
It is handpainted and I would say 30's or 40's due to design
Can you help ?
Cheers
James

Another thing to try would be to make an impression of the mark(s) in a piece of modeling clay/fimo/etc & post an image of it , lit from one side or the other , thecatjh .

Look at the “mark” via natural light, …. near a window or outside under a roof, …. while slowly turning the piece in all directions (up, down n’ around) ….. and the natural light will likely show a “shadow” effect within the “mark” which might help figure out what it is.

That method doesn’t work via artificial light because it is not polarized … and is thus being radiated or “diffracted” in all directions.
