Does anyone know what this is?
-
What is its dimensions and is that the lid for it?
-
9cm with the lid on. 20.5cm circumference. The lid goes on top, don't know what else it does.
-
Here it is with the lid on.
-
I assume the lid fits pretty securely ?? Is anything written or stamped on the bottom ?? Possibly a sugar container ?? Like a sugar bowl ??
-
My first impulse was it was a covered glass to drink from. Depending on where you live and the flying bugs, covered glassware have been around.
-
The lid fits pretty loosely and unfortunately there is no stamp on the bottom... I live in Sweden and it doesn't seem like it's anything Swedish about it.
-
Just because you do not see anything typically Swedish about it doesn`t mean it isn`t from your country !! That is how most designers become famous,,,by not doing the typical and ordinary !! Check your ebay for similar pottery designs !!

It's not that far removed from some Swedish art or art pottery. If you look at the items the Sami have produced, or more orthodox manufacturers like Upsala Ekeby, you can see the similarities.
If it's unmarked it may have been sold at a department store or similar and labelled with a sticker which as since worn off but it could still have been designed by a noted or collected artist.
Could also have been brought over the bridge from Denmark !

Here in the USA you will find items like this as gift items with bath salts, candies, nuts, etc. in them and shrink wrapped.

Cool, thanks for the answers.
