Hello,
does anybody know what this is? it was found in a hospital collection here in Australia. No makers marks or anyway to identify it.
Can't say I've see anything similar before.

Mmm,, have no clue !! Does the container seal in any way ?? Or does the lid just sit on top ??
-
Just sits on top, strange hey!

Looks like a piece of lab equipment that a specimen, sample or etc. is placed inside of it and then a gas is pumped/forced into one port and out the other port.
If so, then the question is, …… is the purpose of the gas to cause a change in/of the “sample” (dry it, moisten it, color it ??) ….. or is the purpose of the gas to extract something from the “sample” (nebulizer action) and transport that vapor to where it is used? ??? ???

Do my eyes deceive me or is it lacking a botton? Or is it a glass bottom?
-
OOps, I guess it doesn't have a bottom.
So there is other parts to make it functional.
Or maybe it sits atop a petri dish that contains a bacterial culture.

Can you please post a picture of the top and a picture of the bottom of the legged section.
Can you see any "wear" marks on the bottom?

I'd like to see more images too , if possible .
Perhaps part of a sterilizer rig ?

It may have had a glass insert !! Problem with the gas, vapor, element is I can`t see any way it could possible be sealed !!
