Hi,
Have an old piece that apparently was very special to my family handed down over the generations and now with my parents having finally passed on, I realized that I never did ask them about the significance of this piece.
I am in the middle of downsizing and am considering selling this piece, depending on what it is and what it's value is.
Anyone that could offer some advice, please let me know. Interested in any info such as style, woods used, etc. Picture links below.
Thanks!

Can you back up and take a pic of the entire table ?? And give the size !! I assume its a hall table,, not too old probably 1930`s or so but need to see the entire table top to bottom !!
-
Can you please give us the dimensions of the piece?
-
I'm getting a feeling that it's older than the 30s. Walnut or cherry? Best guess at this point....without further info....would be maybe $200 or so.
I'd keep it!

Ghopper,, you might think so if it were not for the style number stenciled on the underside !! That did not get started till late 20`s and was widely used by the 1930`s !! You rarely find a 20`s piece that is marked that way !! When they started making mass produced furniture the numbering system became necessary !!
-
Yeah, I saw that. Perhaps the table is a part of the 20s Victorian Revival?
Anyway, it's a nice table.
-
Could be but I am still sticking with 30`s or later !! Would help to see the entire table in one pic,, !!Small sections at a time is like putting a puzzle together !!

I used to call them "Radio Tables", since many times they were sold at the same stores selling early radios. I can picture it with a nice old Philco or Zenith wood cased radio sitting on it.
Here's a photo of a WWII era family gathered around their radio.

Hi everyone. Thank you for the replies.
Attached is another picture of the overall:

Dimensions are:
19d, 29h, 34.25w
$200? Is that on the high end?
Cheers!

Mart, this reminds me more of what is known as a small "Library Table". Hall tables (aka foyer tables) were GENERALLY, (not always but generally), flat on one side to sit up against a wall or were round to sit in the middle of the entryway without corners that people would bump into and bruise/injure themselves.
It also fits the height/width/depth of a sofa table and what Rauville called a radio table.
So, could have been used for all!

KC !! The last pic is so large I can`t even see it so just going by the bits and pieces posted originally !! I just use the hall table term because of the oval shape !! Could have been used anywhere !!

Sorry. Just for you: :)

Sheraton revival, i don't think it matters value wise whether it's 1920s-30s or 40s. Whats the deal on those holes on bottom of apron, was there a gallery or finials that attached there?
-
Value wise it doesn`t make a difference !! Same value either way about $200. give or take a few dollars !! Looks like possibly a figured mahogany !! I am sure that when purchased it may have been expensive for the time and that's the reason the family placed importance on it !! Sadly though the value then does not translate to todays values !!

Hi all,
I have an update. I was talking to a reputable family member about this table and its history today.
Was mentioned to me that this was a wedding gift to my great-grandparents. =) So really happy to hear that!
The date when they were married? November 24, 1917. (note: In 1917, this was the Saturday before Thanksgiving)
Discuss amongst yourselves if it was possible that this table was built ~ ca.1917.
Cheers and happy new year!

1917? I believe I already made an allowance for that possibility (see above)! ;D
Anyway, I'd say 1917 is quite possible; could be even older!
-
Around here,, anything is possible !! Just glad you know the family history for your table !!
-
Nice to get that family information. You might want to type it up and attach to the underside so that it stays with the table!
The price should still remain the same as those came up with above.
-
Yup, looks like it will stay in the family for it's ~100th (+/-) birthday coming up.
Cool to know it's history!
Thanks again for your comments!
Happy New Year!
