Hi All,
Happy new year!!
I have recently purchased a house where some furniture was left by the previous owner.
I am no expert but some of it looks quite old and potentially worth some money so I am looking for advice on how to identify who made the items and what they are made of and also look at what they may be worth.
I have attached some photo's to view.
There is in the main bedroom a wardrobe, bedside table and also a dresser. The locks on these items say Hobbs & Co London machine made. I haven't been able to identify any other markings as yet.
In the dining room there is a sideboard which is dark wood stained. I have been unable to identify any markings etc on this.
In the living are there is a glass display cabinet - it is lockable and has the key but again I have been unable to identify any markings.
There are also some glass items and brass type items as can be seen in the pictures so I am looking to identify if they are crystal or just plain old glass.
All advice appreciated.
Thanks

The wardrobe is the only pic !! Your pics are too big to load more than one per post !! Reduce the size to half the current sise !! WE can enlarge if needed !! Would be better to have one or two items per post !! And forgot to say welcome to the forum !! Sorry !!
The wardrobe is from the Deco era of the late 20`s and 30`s !! Commonly called waterfall style !! Pic is distorted when enlarged so couldn`t tell much about the wood but it is probably burl walnut which was frequently used !!

Agree with Mart and there might be a small label inside the wardrobe or top centre of the back.
However, there were masses of these made but at least yours appears to be in decent condition.

Just checked and there's only the one pick loaded.
Welcome to the forum and agree with the others comments!

Hi Everybody.
Thanks for the replies.
I am going to reduce the picture size and do as suggested and split the posts.
Hoping to have it all done and ready on here tomorrow.
Thanks
Dave

Hi,
Slight problem with the resizing :(
It appears because I took the photo's on my phone then emailed them to the laptop it won't let me resize them. I will try adding one by one to see if they come up at all.

Sorry for all the photo's. As soon as I can find out how best to get them the correct size I will get some decent ones sorted out.
Thanks for all your time.

more glass items
Is there a mark on the base on the far right ?

As well as I can tell from these pics,,all the furniture is about the same era !! Late 20`s and 30`s !! Cannot see the sideboard well !! Is the second sideboard pic the bottom half of the first pic ?? Wardrobe, night stand and dresser look like same wood so assuming its all one set !! Value approx. $450 to $500. for all !! Little glass shelved china cabinet about $150. to $175. !! It is an English made piece and pretty common !! Glass items and small brass/copper items need to be separated into another post and take pic of each individual one !! With pic of the bottoms and good light !! Hard to tell anything in these pics !!

For glass, silver, metal, shiny items take pictures in natural light (or diffused) without a flash! This makes them show up best! Hope this helps!
