Hi I'm new to the forum. I live in Arkansas and I came across this antique dresser at an auction. I would like to know if anybody could possibly tell me how old this dresser is and the value of it. I have look all over the web for the Rogers-Wade furniture company and haven't came up with a whole lot of information. I do know that they were in Paris, TX and they made home furniture for awhile but now they make retail fixtures.

I'm having problems posting additional pictures. It says that they are too large and I know that they are not.

Hi there and welcome to the forum !! Your little chest is what is known as depression era furniture !! This style was used well into the 1940`s !! Pretty common style,, when my daughter was born 50 some years ago I used one very similar for her baby clothes/diapers ect !! (We didn`t have pampers) !! Today many still use them in a baby or toddlers bedroom !! I am just a stones throw from Paris, Texas !! Let me see what I can find on that mfr !!

Little bit of history about halfway down this article !! Your pics are over sized for more than one per post !! 3000kb is the recommended size,,!!

I had to figure out how to make them smaller. Thank you.

There is some writing on the back. I don't know if that means anything. Also, would it be better if I stripped the paint off and refinished it or left it the way it is?
-
That paint is not original !! It is probably made from walnut and would have a similar color stain originally !! Since this type furniture is not hard to find and is not in the collectable category you can find many different finishes applied over the years !! You can refinish as you like with no guilt !! I think it would look nice with the original stain and varnish finish !!

Does anyone know what the value of this piece might be?
-
You can usually find them in the $100. range !! Check your local craigslist and you might find the dresser to match the chest !! Doesn`t have to be exact just same style !!

Thanks so much, Mart.

This is not the one I had in mind but this lets you see what the dresser should look like !! Not the paint treatment,,just the way it is made !! The version I like best is a bit more feminine than this one !!
