Title: Old carved painted wooden tray
Post by: Skinny on April 23, 2016, 05:41:00 PM: I just picked up this cool looking tray for $1 at an antique store. It's about 12" in diameter, carved out of a very lightweight wood. It has a lot of wear and several layers of paint. I can't tell if it's 100 yrs old, or just made to look that way. If it is old, I think the gold paint is not original. Any ideas on age, origin?

Old or not depends on how old you are !! 1960`s and after !! There are some made of Papier Mache` !! Old Papier Mache` can be pricey !!

Post by: Skinny on April 24, 2016, 07:55:54 AM: This one is made of wood for sure. All that brown in the middle is the wood showing. Lots of knife marks on it. Somebody used this piece for a cutting board.
