I just picked up this cool looking tray for $1 at an antique store. It's about 12" in diameter, carved out of a very lightweight wood. It has a lot of wear and several layers of paint. I can't tell if it's 100 yrs old, or just made to look that way. If it is old, I think the gold paint is not original. Any ideas on age, origin?

Old or not depends on how old you are !! 1960`s and after !! There are some made of Papier Mache` !! Old Papier Mache` can be pricey !!

This one is made of wood for sure. All that brown in the middle is the wood showing. Lots of knife marks on it. Somebody used this piece for a cutting board.

Try this search...I believe it is vintage Italian Florentine.

Thanks! I sold many vintage Florentine items when I had my shop. They sell pretty well, or at least they did! Never had a tray though. Wish I had! Trays are so in!
