Title: I think a pill box ??

I found this in my mother in laws safe. I do not think it was hers. I think it was from her second husband's wife who was a antique collector. I haven't seen anything like it. I'm still looking for markings, which, I don't see. Wonder if it's familiar to anyone.

Thank you, Rauville. Strange for my mother in law to have. I just know it's not hers. She 90 and her mind is starting to go, so I couldn't really ask her. I appreciate the information, Rauville.

It's about an inch long and a half inch wide.

I also believe, with Rauville, that it is a rosary box/case.

 Isn`t that kind of small for a rosary case ??  Is it possible it was a small personal snuff box ??  After all only a pinch was used !! I didn`t think pill boxes were used much before 1930 ??

Mart, I don't know much about Rosary beads. I thought it was small, too. Maybe they were for fine beads, or chain.

The ones I have seen would not have fit in a box only an inch long !!  I have never seen a rosary on a tiny chain,,but I am not Catholic so I may be wrong !!

Greenacres,

Rosaries came in a wide variety of sizes.  I have a tiny set that fits in a circular metal "box" or case that is the diameter of a quarter but double the thickness. The Madonna is a common decoration for a rosary box.

Well, Blow me down !!  I was looking at the size and did not even glance at the picture !!  I guess that a rosary case is it !!  The only rosaries I have seen were much larger !!
