Title: Help to identify Carved animal bone/tooth

Hi really could do with help for the attached, I feels like tooth and has a carved face.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

I'm afraid the photo is too blurry to tell, but you want to look for a double, criss-crossing grain, which would indicate ivory (tooth). Look at the sample we have here:

Then get a good, strong magnifying glass or loupe and compare them to your piece.

How big is it ??  Carving whale teeth was done years ago and I think some tribes in the far NW are still allowed to hunt whales !!

Hi please see the attached pic, I believe its tooth but unsure from what, carving does look authentic

And what is the object for reference ??  How big is it ?? Kind of hard to judge size by an unknown object that is on its side  !!

LOL !!  Well,, in my garden fogged brain ( I sat and looked at that thing for 20 minutes)  I was wondering what it was !!  Then you posted and the light bulb finally was turned on !!  Ahh,,Ha !!  So it is a lighter !!  Old age is sneaking up on me !!  If it catches me you folks are in trouble !!  No telling what will happen !!   ;D
