I'm not sure that's what this is but I'm sure someone out there does. It has its own little carrying case.
-
Can not see the actual earpiece well but that plug is the same as those that were used with the little cassette players of the early 90`s !! Those that clipped to your belt !!

The leather case, the wiring, the plug, and screw say 1950's to me.
Could be from tape recorder, radio. Searched for transistor radio in leather case with earpiece.

Take a look/see at this radio/ear piece set from late 50's to 60's time period. The more "expensive" set came with matching pieces. They did sell individually as well.

I believe Pelady was the closest to being correct via her statement of, to wit:
Could be from tape recorder,
Look closely, .... that is neither an earphone or microphone attached to the end of the wire ..... but appears to me to be a per se "pick-up" sensor or detector ....... like maybe for measuring one's heartbeat or whatever.
If we could see what is inside the case ...... then we could better determine what its purpose is or was.

I was beginning to wonder how sound would come out but I just figured I didn't understand 50's tech. There is nothing inside the case. The loop on the back doesn't look like a belt loop but like it would have slid down onto something.
