Title: Eastlake Rocking Chair problem!
Post by: faf on August 02, 2016, 04:32:34 AM
Hi everyone! I was wondering if someone would be able to help me with my recent purchase of this Eastlake style Rocking Chair.  One of the flat coil springs has broken and I need to replace it!  I have tried some local Upholsterers but they are unable to help. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe antique-hardware.com has one that will work? Not sure if they have this style, but they have replacement parts for platform rockers.

I also saw something a long time ago about a similar problem (but it had no photo) and they had one made by an auto repair shop. You may have to find a place that will copy yours and make a new one.

The other option would be to find a chair that is beyond salvage, but has a good spring, and use that one.

You might have to take the “broken” spring to a metal fabrication shop to see iffen they can make you a new one to fit that spring hub.

Or, a good, ole-timey blacksmith could make one for you. (which might be your best option.)
