Hello was wondering if anyone knew of what type of writing bureau this is please
-
Mmmm,, can we get a better pic please ?? This one is cropped too close !! Need to see the entire piece and one of the dovetail joints on the drawer side front if possible !!
-
hope this is better
-
The pic of the drawer side is very dark !! It it simply butt joined or are there dovetails ?? I can not lighten the pic !!
-
Hope these are better

I think this was made in the UK probably 1880 to 1900 although could be a bit earlier !! I am guessing the feet on this are bracket feet ( they were not in the pics) Pretty sure they are not turned or bun feet !! The pulls/hardware are similar to the William and Mary style drop pull !! But these were used on many things !! The piece itself I would call "primitive" or here in the U.S. "country style" and likely made by a local craftsman/cabinetmaker rather than a larger Mfr !! The use of the leaded glass was pretty common during that period !! It looks like it is made of oak and would be nice if restored !!

Any ideas of how much it would be worth due to our house insurance
-
For insurance purposes put a value of about $350. !!

Mart's got this one, but I'd say a bit later, around 1910-20. A Karma Point for the Farmer from Texas!

Yeah !! I thought so too but decided to go a bit earlier just on the overall look !! This is actually the stuff I like best !! Simple, primitive styling and looks like it could be found in any farm or country house !!

Yes, can't disagree with that.
Nice locks !
-
Hardware is nice !! Hate it when they change all that for modern stuff !!
-
WOW, .... those are big "dovetails" on that drawer side panel.
-
Yes its a bit of a different technique !! You run into it occasionally on the English items !! Not sure but I think its a regional thing !! I just do not know what region !! By the time I see the furniture it has usually passed through many hands and has wound up here in the U.S. !!

Thankyou for all your help on this

I am jumping in here late! I would got towards the end of 1800's and from Europe as well. (Not doing that because Texan's stick together...just from what I have seen in the past!)
Love that simple look!
