Hello all,
Im new here :) Landed here because I got stuck with this piece of pottery.
I can't seem to find the origin and age...
Though I own this pot already about 20 years... I got no clue :)
Hope someone could help me out.
I've attached some images.

Hi there and welcome to the group !! May I ask what your location is and how you came to own this pottery ??
-
Hey thanks,
I've got this pot from my parents which owned an antique store about 30 years ago.
I'm from The Netherlands.
-
Its a nice piece !! Was pretty sure it was not made here in the U.S. !! Is that an AR on bottom ? Or AP ?? We have another member from the Netherlands who pops in pretty often !!
-
The mark says: AR 11 or AB 11
Well I believe it's asian but the mark is not asian.
The man on the top of the pot looks like an ancient asian soldier.
-
The face on the figure does not look Asian !! But many potteries in other countries were making items in the Asian/Oriental style a hundred years ago !! It was quite popular !! Did some looking yesterday and some pottery from the Netherlands were marked with an AR but it seems no one knows why !! Found that when reading some background on Gouda pottery !! Still looking though !!

Thank you very much :)
-
Forgot to ask but how big is this bowl ??
-
Here's a picture with the size in cm's
-
I agree with mart, rather not Asian...
-
The figure looks European to me !! What do you think Mat ??
-
Yes mart, I do not know what the figure is, maybe some medieval person? I don't see asian characteristics...
-
The way it's sitting made me think its Asian.
-
Hey,
Maybe this helps the search.
I also have a matching pot that looks like a teapot.
This one has clearly AB 11 below

Then we can assume the covered bowl was for sugar !!
