just wondering if any one can shed some light on him he stands 22 inches high has no markings i can see its made my peter mook http://www.petermooksculpture.co.uk/ , the plate and dish are not fixed and are removeable

i have since found one of his sold at christies estimated 200-300 went for 1750 in the end someone must have really wanted it

I see Groucho played a waiter in the movie "Double Dynamite" from 1951. Maybe yours is based on that?

Ditto Ghopper ????  There were three but it was the Marx Brothers !!  Groucho, Harpo and Chico,,not Larry, Curly and Moe !!  Many young people do not know of them !!

i have managed to speak with the artist who created it.
I carved this whilst working in China in 1997 for Minster Giftware and it sold for a couple of years. It was part of a range of sculptures that was mostly for restaurants
its Groucho Marx, he was originally sold with glasses and it is made of resin but it's then has a coating of amber to make it look like it's carved from wood

Shame im missing his glasses but atleast i know his history now:)

Its always best to go right to the artist when possible !!  Did he give you an idea of value on the secondary market !!  My guess would be between $500. and $800. since I saw no others for sale !!
